What is Deals Rummy?

Deals Rummy is a match played for an agreed number of deals. Each deal follows the standard 13-card declaration rules. Scores carry forward, but unlike Pool formats, players are not eliminated at 101 or 201.

After the final scheduled deal, compare the totals. For friendly penalty scoring, the player with the lowest cumulative score wins.

Choose the match length

Agree on the number of deals before starting—two, three, six, or any number that suits the group. Use the same player list and scoring conventions for the entire match.

• Keep the same maximum penalty
• Confirm drop values
• Choose a tie-break procedure

Score every deal

The valid declarer receives zero. Every other player records the penalty value of unmatched cards, subject to the house maximum. Add the result to the running total and continue until all planned deals are complete.

Settle a tie

If two players finish with the same lowest total, use the tie-break method agreed before play. Common friendly options are a single extra deal, most deals won, or a shared result. An extra deal is usually the clearest method.

Points versus chips

Some commercial Deals Rummy versions represent results with allocated chips. RummyPoints uses a simpler free-play scoreboard: enter each player's penalty and let the lowest cumulative total determine the result.
